Aggie Golfer Tim Aden Fourth at Wyoming Invite

(HI-LINE ENTERPRISE, Curtis, NE)  The NCTA Aggie golf team competed in its' second tournament of the year; traveling to Torrington, Wyoming to participate in the Eastern Wyoming College Invitational.

Only two players, Tim Aden and Wade Quiggle, made the trip.  The Aggies score did not figure into the team competition, only the individual standings.

Leading the Aggies was freshman Tim Aden, who placed fourth in the individual standings with a two-day total of 160.  Dustin Hoppe, of Lamar (CO) Community College won the individual competition with a 149.  Quiggle finished with a score of 191.

The team championship was won by McCook Community College, whose two-day total of 633 earned a seven stroke victory.

The two Aggie competitors started the round on Thursday the 14th with afternoon tee times.

Both Aden and Quiggle shot well on the front nine, but an exceptionally tight and heavily timbered back nine took its' toll on the NCTA golfers.  Aden finished the first day with a score of 78, while Quiggle cared a 99.

Day two dawned overcast with a light drizzle falling as the golfers started their second day of competition.

The second round began at the 10th tee and the golfers faced the difficult back nine.  The first day's lessons were learned well and the two Aggies got through the first nine holes in better shape than they had the previous day.

Aden looked strong, playing six over par, going into the final two holes.  An unfortunate triple-bogey seven on the par four eight (Aden's seventeenth hole of the day), and a bogey on nine (his eighteenth hole) led to an 82 on the second day.  Quiggle fared better on day two shooting a 92.

The team was without its third starter, Brady Loose, who missed the tournament for personal reasons.  The team's fourth member, Sarah Winslow, plays against the ladies.

The next scheduled event for the men is October 6th and 7th at the Southeast Community College Invite and for the women is October 1st and 2nd at the Wesleyan Fall Invite.
