The NCTA 7-11
The Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture didn’t build the popular gas station and convenience store, but NCTA will start the month of October with two of the fastest growing events on campus. On October 7th, NCTA will host the annual Junior/Senior Scholarship Rodeo. From team roping to bull riding, high school cowboys and cowgirls from across the Midwest will be competing for over $5,000 in scholarships. The rodeo will take place in the new Livestock Teaching Center which is the home of the Aggie Rodeo Team. Aggie rodeo coach, Dallas Talkington enjoys the event by watching the young talent that might compete at the collegiate level. Last year’s rodeo team won the Great Plains Region in saddle bronc and bull riding.
Just four days after the rodeo, NCTA will host the annual Open House. On October 11th, students, parents, and teachers are invited to explore the hands-on educational opportunities NCTA provides. Agriculture enthusiasts will have the option to view the inside of a living cow’s stomach, learn how to operate an EKG machine, discover the equipment needed to maintain a golf course, and handle exotic animals. These are just a few of the interactive classrooms offered at the Open House. Needing to find a job? A career fair will coincide with Open House, providing current and prospective students an opportunity to speak with representatives from various agriculture businesses.
October 7th and 11th…these two days are worth marking down on your calendar.
