NCTA Hires New Director of Student Services

LINCOLN, Neb. -- The Nebraska School of Technical Agriculture at Curtis has hired a new director of student services.
Sue Shaner, former area dean of economic development and training at McCook Community College, has an extensive background in new program development, collaborations, quality improvement and customer service, said Weldon Sleight, dean of NCTA.

Shaner, who has a bachelor's degree in psychology and master's in education from Western Illinois University, has worked in Cooperative Extension for the University of Illinois and Iowa State University. She also served in continuing education at Weber State University in Ogden, Utah, and at Black Hawk College in Illinois, serving some very diverse rural areas.
"I feel that my new appointment at NCTA is the culmination of all of these experiences," Shaner said. "Being back on an ag campus, providing quality programs and services to students who will continue to support this vital industry, is very exciting to me."

Sleight said, "We are delighted to have Sue Shaner join our team as director of student services at NCTA. She brings to NCTA a love for agricultural students and rural Nebraska. She also brings an understanding of student systems and a great understanding of entrepreneurship, which is extremely important since NCTA faculty are currently infusing entrepreneurship principles throughout the entire NCTA curriculum."
Shaner will begin March 22.
