Rodeo Team Holds Timed Event Jackpot
Cowboys and cowgirls from across Nebraska, Wyoming, South Dakota, and Colorado traveled to the campus of the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture (NCTA) in Curtis to compete in the 2007 High School Timed Event Jackpot. With a morning temperature that started below freezing, the contestants and parents welcomed the warmth of the NCTA indoor arena. The event was hosted by the NCTA Aggie Rodeo Team and serves as an important warm-up to the Nebraska High School Rodeo spring season contestants. Along with the payout of 4 places in each event, NCTA offered 2 All-Around Scholarships to the top cowboy and cowgirl. Shelby Winchell of Scottsbluff won the scholarship for her efforts in the arena. There was a tie for the All-Around Cowboy which went to Chism Thurston of Hyannis and Cody Nichols of Max. All 3 winners received a $300 scholarship to attend NCTA and compete for the Aggie Rodeo Team. The team will also host the annual Junior/Senior Scholarship Rodeo in the fall.
