Jake Guthard Named Honorable All-American
CURTIS, NE, APRIL 1, 2008: Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture (NCTA) basketball player Jake Guthard of Pleasanton, Nebraska, was recently named as an Honorable Mention All-American for The United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Division II men's basketball. During the 2007-2008 season, Guthard led the team in almost all offensive categories this season. As a freshman, he finished with a total of 286 points, 151 rebounds, 20 blocks and 10 double doubles for the season while playing in 17 games for the Aggies this season. Coach Jeremy Sievers stated, "Jake is a very hard worker and has a great knowledge of the game. His size allows him to play anywhere on the court and his shooting touch allows him to shoot it from anywhere as well."
Despite their 4-13 season record, Coach Sievers remains optimistic about the future. "We played some teams close this year and if we had some breaks go our way, the outcome would have definitely been in our favor," shares Sievers. "But there is optimism for the future with over half of the team coming back next year and only losing one starter from this year's team. We also have some very talented players coming in next year who we will work into our system. Hopefully next year we can correct some of the little mistakes and turn our record around."
