Vet Tech Students Receive Scholarships

CURTIS, NE, MARCH 31, 2008: - Three Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture (NCTA) veterinary technology students recently received $300 scholarships from Hill's Pet Food.

Dean Weldon Sleight, who was on hand to present the recipients with their scholarships, commented on the important role NCTA's veterinary technology students play within many different industries. "As students, you are doing fantastic things for animals large and small," Sleight shared. "NCTA knows that you are preparing to do important things."

The scholarship recipients for this year were:

  • Amy Beiermann - Kearney, Nebraska
  • Kayla Prince - Fort Pierre, South Dakota
  • Julie Williams - Lincoln, Nebraska

Barb Berg, Veterinary Technology instructor and department chair, explained how the scholarships are awarded. "In order to qualify for the scholarships, students must meet criteria for grades, participation in the Hill's Pet Food Program for personal use, and participation in the Student Vet Tech organization," Berg stated.

Berg also noted that NCTA's participation in the Hill's program ranks right up at the top. "We currently purchase more Hill's Pet Food than any other vet tech program in the country."
