The Operations Technician works with the Fertilizer Manager in operating blend plant and to tend sprayer. They will also be expected to learn to operate sprayer. They assist the Fertilizer Manager and workforce with daily activities and repair needs, keep an accurate inventory, and assist in quality control. It is expected that this individual be a team player, be capable of overseeing 1-2 employees, and assist customers with a friendly and professional attitude.

We are looking for qualified candidates to fill the Operator position at our farm. The Operator is responsible for irrigation and irrigation equipment for our corn, alfalfa and pasture operations. Additionally and primarily during the offseason, this position will also be involved with maintaining our dairy facility and responsible for the equipment they use to perform their daily tasks. This position will also be involved with the grazing management, cattle health, facility cleanliness, etc.
Tasks will potentially include but are not limited to: fencing, irrigation, mowing, maintenance, hauling miscellaneous items and daily equipment maintenance and washing. Qualified candidates will be required to follow all animal health and care protocols, job task protocols and be able to complete written or oral reports.

Wilson Feed Yard is located west of Grant on Hwy 23 and south a mile and a half on road 321. A little about our operation, we are a family operation currently with three generations involved. The operation runs cattle on cornstalks, grass cattle in the summer, calves out and runs 400 cows, along with the day to day operations of a 4500 head feedlot. The equipment we operate is late model Caterpillar loaders, Case tractors and Kenworth feed trucks and semis. We are looking for an individual that is passionate about the beef industry, willing to work hard, and willing to be a team player. We are proposing to start at $12/hour, housing is provided along with utilities. You are guaranteed at least a 40 hour work week.

The Yard Foreman is responsible for the management of cattle intake through daily feed calls and delivery of feed rations. They are to determine daily feed calls based on cattle intake patterns, cattle type, weight, health, and weather. The Foreman should be able to visually appraise cattle behavior and bunk conditions to accurately determine appropriate feed requirements. The Foreman will be responsible for coordinating feed requirements and timing feed delivery. The Yard Foreman will also be directly involved in the harvest of all feed stuffs. The Yard Foreman is also responsible for the management of cattle receiving, processing, treatment, and shipping. They should be able to plan and deliver processing treatments based on the condition, health and weight of the cattle. Critical knowledge in proper cattle handling, accurate delivery of all animal health products, and implants.
The Yard Foreman will oversee the preventative and scheduled maintenance on all feed wagons, scales, chutes, 4 wheelers, syringes, implant guns, etc.
The candidate should have an agricultural background, experience or upbringing, a sound education and a desire to work in and manage production agriculture. Hands-on experience in one or more of the cattle production segments (cow calf, stocker, cattle feeding) is preferred. However, other related agricultural experience that demonstrates an understanding of cattle production and a desire to work in the cattle feeding industry will be considered. No college degree required.
Pay & Benefits:
