Lincoln, Neb. - Lexus Kelsch of McLaughlin, S.D., recently won the collegiate barrel racing title for the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture (NCTA) at Curtis.

She won the short go-round and winning average on April 15-16 to put her atop the standings during the weekend contest hosted by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Rodeo Association.

April 11-17 was deemed “Rodeo Week” in the state by Nebraska Governor Pete Ricketts, and included a salute during the Friday evening performance at the Lancaster County Event Center.

NCTA athletes and other Nebraska college rodeo students joined Ricketts as they rode into the arena for the evening‘s grand entry.

NCTA Rodeo Coach Bridger said the governor’s proclamation was significant and gave great visibility to the sport of rodeo.

The Aggie team travels this weekend to Spearfish, S.D., for a contest hosted by Black Hills State University.

As Kelsch returns to her home state, she continues to lead the standings in barrel racing for the Great Plains Region.
