CURTIS, Neb. - Aggie students with the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture were volunteers at the 2017 Nebraska State Fair in Grand Island.

The 10-day fair ended Labor Day with NCTA students participating as competitors, volunteers in the livestock and rodeo show rings, and food servers.

Animal Science Professor Terri Jo Bek coordinated a crew of 13 NCTA students to serve beef sandwiches at the Nebraska Cattlemen Beef Pit.

Many of the students on the kitchen crew were freshmen representing the NCTA Ranch Horse Team, Rodeo Team or Collegiate Cattlemen, said Bek.

They earn credits for their NCTA Learning Communities class in which they are to achieve 10 hours of community.
