Max Melvin signs with NCTA Livestock Judging Team

Max Melvin of Sterling, Nebraska, signed a letter of intent Thursday with the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture to join the NCTA livestock judging team and agriculture production systems program in the fall. Max attended Freeman Public Schools in Adams.

NCTA Livestock Judging Team Coach Douglas Smith visited Freeman High on May 12 for the signing ceremony.  Attending are Melvin’s mother Kathy Buehler and stepfather Richard Buehler (at left) of rural Sterling, Tony Jensen (standing) Freeman High agriculture teacher and FFA advisor, and Dr. Smith (seated at right).

Max is the son of Kathy Buehler, Sterling, and Joseph Melvin, Adams. He will major in diversified agriculture at NCTA in a two-year program of coursework such as crop production, animal science, agribusiness and livestock judging.  His goals include livestock management, farming and agronomy.
