NCTA to host “Feed the World” forum on Jan. 10

Curtis, Neb. – Mark Poeschel, Nebraska State FFA President from 1978-79, will be featured at a public forum discussing “Leadership and Sustainability: The Balancing Act to Feed the World” on January 10 at the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture.

Poeschl’s presentation at 7 p.m. will kick off the 2017 season of the University of Nebraska Heuermann Lecture Series which is held at Nebraska Innovation Campus in Lincoln and telecast at the NCTA Nebraska Agriculture Industry Education Center.

“I invite our community, FFA students from area high schools and the campus student body, faculty and NCTA staff to attend this compelling discussion,” said NCTA Dean Ron Rosati. “Mark is a native of Nebraska, having received his Bachelor of Science in agriculture from UNL.”

Today, Poeschl is Chief Executive Officer of the National FFA Organization and the National FFA Foundation, based in Indianapolis, Ind., where he is responsible for the operations and long term success of the two organizations. Together with the National FFA Board of Directors and the National FFA Board of Trustees, he assures FFA's relevance and service to agriculture and agricultural education.

NCTA is a longstanding partner in providing the Heuermann Lectures to the campus community and public, free of charge to attendees. Refreshments will be served ahead of the program so come early and mingle in the Ed Center common area, urged Rosati.

Spring semester classes at all University of Nebraska campuses, including NCTA, will resume on January 9.
