Curtis, Neb. – Dogs, horses, crops, livestock and American agriculture will be in the spotlight in a program offered by an agricultural advocacy group, Protect The Harvest, on March 8 at the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture in Curtis.

The public is invited to join NCTA students at 6 p.m.  for the program, pizza and a movie, “The Dog Lover.”

The program by Shawn Burtenshaw, Protect The Harvest speaker, is sponsored by NCTA Student Senate and NCTA Diversity Committee.

Burtenshaw was invited by Shane Hoer, third-year student and Student Senate president, to discuss agricultural advocacy and a national information effort by Protect The Harvest.  Protect The Harvest was founded by Forrest Lucas, CEO and President of Lucas Oil.

The movie, The Dog Lover, is based on a true story.  “An internship sends a recent college graduate undercover.  She discovers that what she thinks is right, is actually wrong.”

Lucas and his wife, Charlotte, were awarded an Outstanding Leadership Award for their work on the movie from the American Kennel Club at the AKC National Championship Dog Show in December.

“As farmers, ranchers, sportsmen, and livestock and pet owners, we all need to stand up and protect our way of life,” Protect The Harvest materials state.

Pizza and the program begin at 6 p.m., followed by the 110-minute movie. The Nebraska Agriculture Industry Education Center is located on the NCTA campus, near the intersection of University and Siminoe Streets.

The event is free, and is hosted by Lucas Oil and Protect The Harvest.
