Participants will meet from 9 a.m.. to 3:30 p.m. at the Taylor Pasture, located 3.2 miles north of Maywood on Road 385.

High school athletes competing in a weekend rodeo in Grand Island on Labor Day will see the NCTA Aggies in the arena – this time as volunteers.

Ten students from the Aggie Rodeo Team of the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture in Curtis are earning team funds by helping put on the rodeo at the Nebraska State Fair.

“This is a new format for the State Fair rodeo,” explained Aggie Coach Jaden Clark.

NCTA Dean's Message by Larry Gossen, Ph.D.

It’s our official Welcome to College Week for the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture!

We had a successful first day of classes on Monday, and by week’s end the shuffling of schedules and rearranging of courses and meeting locations will be complete.

A HUGE thank you to the Curtis community for sharing in the Welcome Picnic and our campus events to greet newcomers and returning Aggies.

Aggie of the Year out on the range Wednesday, August 24, 2022

By Mary Crawford, NCTA NEWS

In her second year of college in Curtis, Maddy Carr settled into her comfort zone outdoors on the range.

Often, she rides vast rangeland as cattle graze pastures in Hayes and Frontier Counties. Or, at the shooting range of the Curtis Gun Club.

Both are settings where Aggie students from the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture learn, work, compete and bond with classmates.

NCTA Welcome Weekend with community Thursday, August 18, 2022

By NCTA Dean Larry Gossen, Ph.D.

Aggie students, welcome to Curtis and the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture!

The message I will share this weekend as we greet new students to NCTA is one that I can deliver with utmost sincerity and first-hand experience.

The residents of Curtis and Frontier County are some of the most welcoming, hospitable people I’ve encountered in a college community.

It’s true. My wife Fay and I experienced this generosity and kindness when we first arrived at campus in June of 2020.

The power of ‘yes’ Wednesday, August 17, 2022

By NCTA NEWS

Little did Jennifer McConville of Indianola know when she began a doctoral program at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2014 that a commencement address would mirror her own story.

“Think about the opportunities that you are given and even if you don’t feel qualified or you feel afraid of something new, you never know where the transformative power of saying ‘yes’ will lead you,” was the message which rang through the Pinnacle Bank Arena at the UNL ceremony last Saturday.

College prep offers dual credit to high schools Tuesday, August 9, 2022

By NCTA NEWS

High school juniors and seniors can get a jump start on college academics with online dual credit courses.

The Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture offers six classes this fall, with the semester starting Monday, August 22, said Jennifer McConville, associate dean.

“The NCTA program allows students to earn high school and college credits concurrently, at a reduced rate of $69.50 per credit hour,” McConville said. “The courses are college-level, contain the same content and rigor as other courses offered at NCTA, and may transfer to other colleges.”

Well with the world Thursday, August 4, 2022

Dean’s Report by NCTA Dean Larry Gossen, Ph.D.

Where, oh where did the summer of 2022 go?

I find myself glancing over at the calendar to see three months have seemingly evaporated since our Aggie graduates walked down the aisle at May commencement.

The reality is that many of us will be back to school in the next two to three weeks.

Here’s my suggestion to everyone.  Give yourself a vacation.

Take one final opportunity to recharge the battery of the human body.  Get away for some rest and relaxation. Make plans to completely unplug from work.
