INTERNSHIP WITH FULLTIME JOB OPPORTUNITY - Agronomist
I am looking for someone that will fit one of two categories. I would like to have a summer intern that would work with me this summer to prepare for full-time employment for the summer of 2009. This summer (2008) would be a training period for next summer, in other words. Or, I would like to find someone that would like to work full-time after school is out this spring. Experience would be good if this is to be a full-time position starting this summer. Either work experience or an ag background would be helpful, of course. If I can get a summer intern for this summer, then I must stress that this person would be committed into coming back next year as a full-time agronomist for the summer of 2009. This would be a good situation because this person would have a job waiting for him when getting out of school.
I also sell seed, so seed handling would be part of it. Using a fork-lift, handling bags of seed would certainly be a part of it, as well as inoculating beans, delivery to farmers, etc.
I also have cattle and there may be some very light cattle work - no more than checking them while they are in the pastures.
As far as the Agronomist duties would go, we would be checking fields for farmers, primarily corn, soybeans and some wheat. May through August would be the very busy times, then October through December would be soil sampling time. All the revenue that comes in from the sampling that the candidate does would be his to keep. The more this person samples, the more he makes. The salary would consist of the soil sampling revenue, plus additional money to fullfill the rest of the salary. The salary will depend upon the responsibilities of the candidate, experience, etc. I will be very flexible as far as job duties go. I know that finding someone to step right in and take over will be impossible. Most of this stuff is learn as you go. The winter months will be slow. There may even be time for the candidate to have another winter job if desired.
If you have any queestions, please e-mail me. Interested persons can e-mail me at millertime68959@yahoo.com or call me at 308-233-4695. Thank you. Doug Miller
