Position Title:  Conservation Planner

Position Type: Temporary Full-Time

Organization: Lower Elkhorn Natural Resources District

Location (City, State): Pierce, NE

Job Description/Duties

The Conservation Planner will work independently with agricultural producers to educate and encourage the adoption of best management practices, particularly nutrient management, in an attempt to improve groundwater quality within Pierce County. Duties include, but are not limited to: Work with the LENRD and local NRCS staff to develop a detailed annual scope of work. Be familiar and knowledgeable with NRCS guidelines and processes to effectively take producers through an EQIP contract. Provide assistance in promoting and creating nutrient management plans and irrigation water management plans. Identify and recruit landowners to enroll land in Best Management Practices (BMPs) where appropriate, and assist in getting BMPs on the ground.

Qualifications or Skills Required

Desired Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university specializing in natural resources, agriculture or related scientific field of study. Minimum Qualifications: Minimum of two years experience or equivalent working with individuals to conserve and protect their water resources.

Salary and Benefits

Full Benefits.  $40,000 - $50,000
