Job Description/Duties: 

  • Operate JD combine and Kinze planter to help harvest/plant corn and soybean crops.
  • Drive semi to safely haul grain to bins or elevators (CDL preferred, but not required).
  • Apply pre-­‐ and post-­‐plant corn and soybean chemicals with Ro-­‐Gator sprayer.
  • Change machines/implements from performing one task to another.
  • Assist with 35-­‐head cow/calf and 100-­‐head background feeder steer cattle operation.
  • Work flexible 30-­‐40 hour/week schedule most of the time, with ability to work extended hours (sometimes seven days per week) as needed during planting and harvest.
  • Assist in all areas of the operation, based on the current needs of the farm.

About our Farm: We are a family-­‐owned dryland farming and cattle operation that’s been growing strong for four generations. We currently farm 2,400 acres of corn, soybean and alfalfa. In addition to planting and harvesting the crop, we are equipped to handle our own chemical spraying and grain hauling. During the off-­‐season, we stay busy tending to a 35-­‐head cow-­‐calf operation and backgrounding 100 feeder steers. We love what we do and believe in helping our employees learn and expand their skills while working with us. Located in Southeast Nebraska, our farm is conveniently located just 30 miles east of Lincoln and 45 miles south of Omaha.

Qualifications or Skills Required:

  • Previous experience operating a combine to harvest corn and soybeans.
  • Demonstrate strong work ethic, positive attitude and ability to work independently.
  • Ability to stand or sit for long periods; and capable of lifting 60-­‐90 lbs.
  • Flexibility to work around weather-­‐related and equipment-­‐breakdown delays.
  • Dependable, responsible, trustworthy and able to communicate effectively with others.
  • Ability to keep accurate records as directed for the farming operation.
  • Must be willing to learn new skills, run different equipment and obtain additional licenses such a CDL, private applicator license for chemicals, etc. 
  • Valid US driver’s license with clean driving record with ability to pass background check and drug screening.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience planting corn and soybeans.
  • Experience applying pre-­‐ and post-­‐plant corn & soybean chemicals.
  • Knowledge of Ag Leader GPS and auto-­‐steer systems.
  • Ability to change machines/implements from performing one task to another.
  • Associates or bachelor’s degree in an ag-­‐related field.
  • CDL license and private applicator license.

Salary & Benefits: 

$16-­‐18 per hour, based on experience. *This can become a full-­‐time, permanent
position for the right individual. We will have an employee/employer review after harvest to determine suitability and discuss long-­‐term compensation package to include housing on one of our farms.
