Position Title: Training and Safety Coordinator

Job Description/Duties
This person is responsible for:
- Scheduling, coordinating, and monitoring the onboarding training for new hires and transfers in Cattle Operations.
- Directing and instructing trainees during classroom and on-the-job training assignments.
- Maintaining documentation and tracking of all new hire training. Serving in the role that releases an individual to work.
- Evaluating performance during training and following up on individual learning through periodic visits, observations, and refresher training.
- Working with supervisors to analyze job tasks and current performance to determine training needs and program content.
- Assisting with the development of technical trainings, onboarding verifications, and level-based testing requirements throughout operations.
- Providing updates, enhancements, and revisions to training programs and procedures. Reviewing potential revisions with technical experts, supervisors, and other appropriate personnel to provide operational input.
- Developing and overseeing cross-training and job shadowing programs.
- Promoting best practices in workplace safety. Serving as an AVIS leader and attending weekly leadership safety meetings.
- Assisting with hazard assessments, safety audits, safety walk throughs, and third party assessments and then developing corrective action plans to address deficiencies.
- Meeting with stakeholders regularly and understanding the safety requirements in detail. Presenting safety improvement recommendations to operations and/or leadership.
- Leading/assisting with safety incident investigations.
- Assisting with the coordination and tracking of safety training. Leading safety retraining efforts as needed.
- Assisting with routine and non-routine audits associated with Progressive Beef. Identifying opportunities to assist with implementation of corrective actions. Conducting implant checks and other quality measures as required.
- Supporting operations leadership through rotational weekend supervisory coverage.
Qualifications or Skills Required
Ideal candidate would possess the following qualifications:
- Demonstrated skills, knowledge and experience within the livestock industry. Strong working knowledge of ADAMS processes and procedures is a plus.
- Previous experience training others.
- Active listening, exceptional written and verbal communication skills are a must.
- Strong analytical, planning, time management, and coordination skills are necessary.
- Ability to work and lead in a team environment with flexibility and adaptability.
- Demonstrated ability to create strong working relationships.
- Ability to influence and solicit buy-in from a wide range of stakeholders.
- Objective, critical thinker who can challenge assumptions.
- Proven project management skills.
- Proficient in MS Office products (Project, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Willingness to have a flexible schedule and travel as needed.
- Bachelor's degree is preferred; 2 years of related experience may be subsitutied with an Associate's degree; 4 years of experience may be substituted with a High School Diploma/GED.
This position requires:
- Individual must be able to work in adverse conditions, if needed.
- Ability to work fluctuating hours, weekends, and holidays, in addition to be on an on-call weekend rotation.
- Exerting 50-100 pounds of force occasionally; 25-50 pounds of force frequently; 10-20 pounds of force constantly. Standing and sitting frequently; walking, carrying, lifting/lowering, pushing/pulling, bending, twisting, climbing, stairs, reaching/handling, grasping, and kneeling/crouching occasionally.
