Abilene Animal Hospital in Abilene, Kansas is looking to hire a full time, self-motivated, and enthusiastic Veterinary Technician or Veterinary Assistant. Our clinic has a progressive, fast-paced environment. We offer numerous services to our small and large animal clients including preventative medicine, orthopedic and soft tissue surgery, endoscopy, canine breeding services, internal medicine services, herd work, equine breeding, and much, much more. We strive to provide high quality medicine, surgery, and patient care.

Daily responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Medical Care: Assessing patient vitals, communicate patient histories and client concerns to the Veterinarian, holding and restraining patients for the Veterinarian, administering medication injections, nail trims, phlebotomy, obtain radiographs, surgical preparation, induction, prepping, anesthetic monitoring, anesthetic recovery.

Client Communication: Speaking with clients about preventive medicine, annual vaccines, heartworm/flea/tick prevention, medical treatments to be administered, and procedures performed. Also expected to help perform client callbacks and assist the client by phone as needed.

Computer Based Skills/Record Keeping: Working within our clinic’s database to help enter charges, type client communications/interactions, create estimates, enter patient information, and assist with creating prescription labels.

Clinic Maintenance: Individual is expected to assist in cleaning including preparation of surgical instruments, picking up medical equipment after use, ensuring examination rooms are wiped down and treatment surfaces sanitized.

Veterinary technician license preferred
