Veterinary Technician Internships

Kansas City Zoo

The Kansas City Zoo offers two unpaid Veterinary Technician internships for each of our 4 sessions: Spring (March–May); Summer (June–August); Fall (September–November); and Winter (December–February). The positions are available to current students or recent graduates of an AVMA accredited Veterinary Technology Program. Each session lasts 10 weeks, where students can earn over 400 hours of hands-on training as technicians in the field of zoological medicine. Students that are selected will be treated as part of the Kansas City Zoo Veterinary Health team and will participate in all aspects of the zoo Veterinary Technician field including immobilization procedures, anesthesia monitoring, radiography, preventative health, phlebotomy, treatment administration, manual restraint & more.

Spring – January 15th   Summer – April 15th   Fall – July 15th   Winter – October 15th

There are two positions available per session.  The internship is UNPAID & does not provide transportation assistance.  Housing assistance may be available.
