We are a 5 doctor 2 clinic group located in Omaha, Nebraska area. We are dedicated to providing high-quality, personalized veterinary care in a family atmosphere. We currently have an open position for a full time Veterinary Technician with the ability to fill other positions around the clinic as needed. We use our technicians to their full potential and training is provided so you can get familiar with how our clinic operates. The ideal candidate is compassionate, has a strong drive to learn, eager to be hands on and thrives in a fun, fast-paced environment. Vet Technicians work in all departments in the clinic.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Kennel: Care of hospitalized animals including cage cleaning, feeding, observation for signs of illness, parasites and disease control, patient care after surgery, laundry, bathing, keeping animals clean.

Hospital: General cleaning of public and employee areas to maintain clean, odor-free, and attractive environment. Housekeeping and laundry duties for all areas. Checks patient medical records, using Impromed, for vaccine and medical history, computer, and file entries. Takes medical histories and vital signs of patients. Takes, processes, and logs prescription refills in-house & makes calls to pharmacy.

Animal: Ability to restrain for procedures performed by doctors. Knowledge of common diseases, their symptoms and means of transmission, administration, and knowledge of all medications. Detailed medical record keeping for surgery and hospitalized patients. Communication with staff and doctors about patient care. Ability to do nail trims, ear cleaning, wound care, bandaging, digital body and dental radiographs, and other doctor requested tasks performed by a vet tech.

Reception: Taking appointments, following up with clients on vaccinations, medications, flea/tick/HW compliance.

Public Relations: Professional, cheerful, and helpful attitude when contacting pet owners. Educate clients regarding hospitalized patients from admission to discharge, knowledge of patient files, vaccine schedules, parasite control, record keeping and filing, discussing lab results with clients, and other front desk procedures.

Laboratory: Performance of in-house laboratory tests with Heska machines. Preparing lab samples, completion of forms for reference laboratory, filing of laboratory reports and cleanup of laboratory area. Aiding in the performance of diagnostic imaging. Other laboratory duties, including, drawing blood, administering IV catheters, collecting, and doing microscopic examinations of varying samples from a patient.

Surgery: Surgery duties, such as administering medications, intubating, prepping patients for surgery, monitoring under anesthesia, postoperative patient care, medical record keeping for surgery patients.

Assisting: Animal restraint, nail trimming, ear cleaning, client education, and computer transaction entry during office hours or treatment times.

Inventory: Unpacking, labeling, and stocking of hospital supplies. Helping manage supplies that need ordered.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The employee must be able to multi-task. Lifting (up to 50 pounds) is required. Handling animals weighing 150 pounds is required. A high school diploma or general education degree (GED); and an associate degree, completing a two-year veterinary technician program with a license in the state of Nebraska. We are accepting current veterinary technician students. 

Pay: From $16-25 per hour (depending on experience)
