Assistant Professor of Agriculture Production Systems-Animal Science


Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture in Curtis, NE, is seeking candidates for a 9-month, non-tenure leading faculty position in Agriculture Production Systems-Animal Science available January 2, 2012. Teach Animal Science courses within the Agriculture Production Systems (APS) major with an emphasis on equine courses, including the development of course outlines, lesson plans and materials for a lecture and hands-on format utilizing new technologies; Serve as intercollegiate Equine Teams Coach with the capacity to assist with coaching the Rodeo team. Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture (NCTA) in Curtis, NE is seeking candidates for a Recruiter which is a 12-month managerial/professional full-time temporary (up to 2-years) position. Under the general supervision of the Associate Dean, this position will be responsible for recruiting students by meeting prospective students, parents, and guidance counselors in a variety of settings. This position will require extensive overnight travel in a seven state area. A college vehicle will be provided and a valid driver’s license is required. This is an excellent entry level opportunity for a high energy professional. Primary duties include explaining educational and vocational programs offered by NCTA and assisting students with the admissions process. This position serves to reach out to the community, state, and region by visiting area high schools, community groups, and organizations, in order to meet with prospective students both individually and in large groups. This position will utilize historical enrollment data to make decisions regarding travel to target markets to represent the College at other schools and universities across the region. Decisions will be based on data regarding schools to target, events to conduct in order to build yield at specific schools and approaches to increase enrollment by target market area. This position will be responsible for assisting in the organization of visits to the College, participating in the organization of campus tours, and making presentations regarding courses and programs in order to encourage prospective students to consider NCTA as their College of choice. This position provides academic and career advising for both prospective and enrolled students and their parents. The successful candidate must possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education/experience plus two years experience in public relations, student services, sales, marketing or related field. Must be able to project professional, articulate image and possess well-developed writing skills. Experience with PC-based word processing presentation and spreadsheet software programs required. Small to large group presentation skills required. Ability to work in diverse teams and follow through on multiple tasks at one time is a must. Agriculture, sales or business experience a plus. Criminal history background check required. Pre-placement driving record review required. Applicant review will begin September 15, 2011. Will be responsible for overseeing the health care of Veterinary Technology animals including weekend, holiday and emergency care.
