Brainard, Neb. - Six members of the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture Shooting Sports Team competed recently in a match hosted by Concordia College at the Oak Creek Sporting Club.

The NCTA Aggie students from a variety of academic majors at the Curtis campus included Tyler Heidemann of Daykin, Neb.; Tucker Dehmlow of Centennial, Colo.; Stetson Youel, Hay Springs, Neb.; Shawn Barger, Wahoo, Neb.; Trevor Kuhn, Omaha, Neb., and Jon Herz, Alma, Neb.

“The students who competed all improved on sporting clays scores and had their personal best,” said Alan Taylor, NCTA team coach.  “Trevor Kuhn and Jon Herz had the biggest improvements shooting 40 percent better than their score from a previous meet.”

Aggie event leaders at Brainard were:

Sporting Clay: Tucker Dehmlow, Centennial, Colorado

Super Sporting Clay:  Tyler Heidemann, Daykin, Neb.

5-Stand Sporting Clay:  Stetson Youel, Hay Springs, Neb.

High overall for NCTA was Heidemann, who also led the Aggies in a previous match at Grand Island.

The next competition for the Aggies will be Nov. 5-6 at the Heartland Shooting Park in Grand Island in the Association of College Unions International (ACUI) Clay Target Championships.

The semester matches will end Dec. 3 with a local contest in Curtis called the “Bring Home the Bacon Trap and 5-Stand Shoot.” The fun match originally scheduled with the opening of pheasant season in Nebraska has been moved to Dec. 3 and will be from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Curtis Gun Club, east Highway 23.
