Curtis, Neb. – Graduates and agricultural leaders were recently honored by the University of Nebraska at the 50th anniversary celebration of the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture in Curtis.
Five decades of technical agriculture education was applauded by Stan Matzke, keynote speaker at the NCTA program. Matzke, now of Lincoln, served as the first superintendent of the “tech school” from 1965-1968. He outlined the challenges in starting the new post-secondary institution on a bare-bones budget.

Ag college to salute alumni, honorees Friday, June 12, 2015
Curtis, Neb. – The University of Nebraska’s “Curtis ag college” will honor four ardent advocates of the 103- year-old school at an alumni association banquet June 27.
A reunion of the joint alumni association for the University of Nebraska School of Technical Agriculture (UNSTA) and the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture (NCTA) will present awards at the annual meeting at the Chances R Restaurant in York, said NCTA Dean Ron Rosati.

York, Neb. – Nebraska Governor Pete Ricketts will be the keynote speaker on September 3 in York as a new partnership kicks off career readiness and agricultural workforce training of York High School sophomores, juniors and seniors.
New dual credit agricultural training programs are being offered this year by YHS staff, the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture, Central Valley Ag Cooperative and Reinke Manufacturing, Inc.

NCTA Farmers Markets begin Saturday Tuesday, September 1, 2015
Curtis, Neb. – Late summer produce pumpkins will be on produce stands in the Curtis City Park starting Saturday (Sept. 5).
The first of six Saturday farmers markets will feature local produce and other items provided by local growers and the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture horticulture club, said Tee Bush, NCTA instructor and club sponsor.
“The NCTA Farmers Market begins in Curtis again now that NCTA students are back on campus,” Bush said. “We coordinate the Farmers Market in conjunction with the NCTA Community Garden.”

NCTA hits record enrollment, up 33 percent Tuesday, September 1, 2015
Curtis, Neb. – Student enrollment at the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture in Curtis is up 33 percent from a year ago, a record for NCTA enrollment with 512 students, NCTA Dean Ron Rosati announced Tuesday.
The 102-year-old school, the only two-year college degree program of the University of Nebraska system, issued its count after the first full week of classes began on August 24.

2015 Rural Futures Conference Oct. 21-22 at NCTA Wednesday, September 16, 2015
Curtis, Neb. - “Hope Inspires Vision” is the theme of the third national Rural Futures Conference, scheduled for Oct. 21-23 in two Nebraska locations, including the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture in Curtis.
Registration for the conference, which drew a sold-out crowd of more than 500 when it was last held in 2013, is currently open at http://rfc.nebraska.edu. The conference is hosted by the Rural Futures Institute at the University of Nebraska.

Sandhills ranch becomes outdoor classroom Thursday, September 17, 2015
Oshkosh, Neb. – A new partnership is demonstrating that conservationists and ranchers are looking at the future with similar hopes.
The Nature Conservancy in Nebraska bought the 840-acre Graves Ranch in Garden County in 1983 because its conservation value was so profound. For years, blowout penstemon was thought to be extinct, until 3,000 plants were discovered in the Sandhills – with a third of them on Graves Ranch.

Curtis, Neb. – The Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture will celebrate 50 years as a college with a public program and reception on Friday (November 13) at the NCTA Nebraska Agriculture Industry Education Center at 1:30 p.m.

NCTA Vet Tech program re-accredited Thursday, November 19, 2015
Curtis, Neb. – Veterinary technician students at the University of Nebraska’s agriculture college in Curtis know plenty about animal health care. In fact, during year-end exams, each student is tested on 130 skills or tasks.
This in-depth, hands-on education is a hallmark for the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture, and helps earn national recognition for the 45-year-old program.
The American Veterinary Medical Association recently re-affirmed accreditation for NCTA’s Veterinary Technology Program, said Ron Rosati, dean of NCTA, a two-year-degree institution.
