Strode, Hoer named NCTA Aggies of the Month Sunday, March 13, 2016

Curtis, Neb. – Two students from eastern Nebraska garnered honors at the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture in Curtis during February as “Aggies of the Month.”
Adrienne Strode of Lincoln and Shane Hoer of Blair were recognized by faculty and staff for their contributions to academic and student life at the agricultural college, said NCTA Dean Ron Rosati.
“Adrienne and Shane exemplify the character and dedication of our students here at NCTA,” Rosati noted.

Curtis, Neb. - The impact agricultural cooperatives have on rural economic development was highlighted for young agriculturalists recently at the College Conference on Cooperatives at Minneapolis.

     Four students represented the University of Nebraska – Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture at Curtis.

Curtis, Neb. – Dogs and beef cattle can work well together in pens or on open range, particularly when the handler emphasizes low-stress techniques in sorting or herding the cattle.
A workshop to educate cattle producers and stock dog owners about Low-Stress Cattle Handing will be Wednesday, March 30 at 6:30 p.m. at the indoor arena of the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture in Curtis.

NCTA hosts "Discovery Day" March 7 Thursday, March 3, 2016

Curtis, Neb. – One of the most important steps a college-bound student can take each winter or spring is to visit college campuses.

The Nebraska College of Technical College in Curtis will host “Discovery Day” on Monday, March 7 as an opportunity for high school students and their families to tour and learn about academic programs, said Tina Smith, NCTA admissions and recruiting coordinator.

“We are excited to host over 100 guests at our upcoming Discovery Day and invite students to preregister by Thursday afternoon to ensure a spot,” Smith said.

Laura Stage an international exchange student from Germany
NCTA, Rotary host a German Student’s View Thursday, February 25, 2016

Laura Stage of Curtis is an international exchange student from Germany who is spending her year with a Curtis family.

While attending Medicine Valley High School as part of an international exchange through ASSE, Miss Stage is hosted this school year by Glenn and Sara Jackson. Dr. Jackson is on the veterinary technology faculty at the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture.

Laura will present a public forum entitled, “A Look into the Life of a German Student,” at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 25 at NCTA’s Nebraska Agriculture Industry Education Center.

NCTA rodeo hosts PRCA steer wrestler Monday, February 22, 2016

Curtis, Neb. – The Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture Rodeo Team will host two-time world champion steer wrestler Dean Gorsuch of Gering, Neb., for a Bulldogging Clinic March 4-6 in Curtis.
NCTA Aggie Rodeo Coach Bridger Chytka said Gorsuch will demonstrate basics for rodeo athletes from chute preparation and horseback technique to wrestling style in the rodeo sport also known as bulldogging.
Gorsuch won World Champion Bulldogging titles in 2006 and 2010. He continues to compete in Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association events around the U.S. and in Canada.

NCTA Ranch Horse 2015 success Friday, February 19, 2016

Curtis, Neb. – Four Aggie ranch horse athletes rode to victories during their 2015 collegiate season with the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture.
The NCTA foursome was joined by coach and animal science assistant professor Joanna Hergenreder for the 2015 Awards Banquet of the CoWN Stock Horse Association.  The group represents ranch horse students and competitors from Colorado, Wyoming and Nebraska.

Curtis, Neb. – Agronomy students from the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture proved they are outstanding in their field.A foursome of NCTA sophomores won a Crops Judging Contest on Saturday hosted by Iowa State University, topping the field of teams from 2-year colleges.
Team members are: Ross Steward of Littleton, Colo., Dalton Johnson of Gering, Nolan Breece of Holdrege, and Aaron Jensen of Goehner.

NCTA Ranch Horse Team Kicks Off 2016 in Black Hills Thursday, February 11, 2016

Curtis, Neb. – Nine collegians with the NCTA Ranch Horse Team competed strong in their 2016 season opener at the Black Hills Stock Show in Rapid City, S.D.
“We had a great warm-up event for our students and they did very well, with many riding our school horses from NCTA,” said Joanna Hergenreder, team coach and assistant professor of animal science at the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture in Curtis, Neb.

Curtis, Neb. – The Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture at Curtis has been named as a Top 150 two-year institution by the Aspen Institute College Excellence Program.
