Five members of the Shotgun Sports Team from the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture competed over the weekend at the Hastings College meet at the Heartland Shooting Park.

Kaden Bryant of Firth led the team with 339 points in five events, trap, skeet, double skeet, sporting clays and super sporting clays. His best event was skeet with 97 of 100.

Cooper Mazza of rural Potter led the team with 46 out of 50 in super sporting clays and posted 310 points overall.

Demand for agricultural and animal health graduates is strong. Frequent contacts made to the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture confirms the need for a plentiful and skilled workforce.

Employers have positions in agriculture production at the farm and ranch. Veterinary clinics and livestock entities need fulltime employees.

Agribusinesses and ag cooperatives seek skilled individuals for entry-level and advanced positions in agronomy, sales, field staff, chemical application, inventory, and finance.

Autumn weather proved ideal for Aggie students and their horses as the NCTA Ranch Horse Team competed in the Slidin’ Daze Fall Classic in Colorado over the weekend.

The Classic welcomed entries in the Open and Collegiate Classes. The Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture entered five riders in the two-day show at the Latigo Equestrian Center near Elbert, Colorado.

The Aggies of the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture traveled to Brainard for a weekend sporting clays match hosted by Concordia University Nebraska.

The Shotgun Sports student athletes met with tough competition in the field of 11 colleges, said Aggie Coach Alan Taylor.

Kaden Bryant of Firth led the Aggies with 240 out of 300 points. His teammates were Trey Barnhart, McCook; Kamren Sitzman, McCook, Abbey Paul, North Platte and McKenna Darby, Pleasanton.

Aggie Rodeo Team ends fall season Monday, October 4, 2021

Aggie Rodeo from the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture at Curtis completed its fall season in North Dakota.

Two Aggies competed in double rodeos at Fort Dickenson on Sept. 30 to Oct. 2.

Ellie Stohlmann of Ashland was in barrel racing.  Callie Bauer of Arcadia team roped. However, vigorous competition ended their fall season, said Aggie Coach Jaden Clark.

“We came up short in making it to the final short go, unfortunately,” Clark said. “Everyone had a safe and enjoyable weekend, at the least.”

NCTA library grant from MNCF Friday, October 1, 2021

The campus library of the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture in Curtis has received a grant from the Mid-Nebraska Community Foundation.

NCTA Dean Larry Gossen said the college was notified this summer regarding an award of $2,160 to continue its campus resource of the NCTA Agricultural Terrorism Collection.

The Mid-Nebraska Community Foundation, based in North Platte, assists applicants regionally for educational and community programs.

NCTA athlete wins conference title Tuesday, September 28, 2021

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. – College shotgun sports athletes from six states competed last weekend at the Prairie Circuit Conference Classic at the Lincoln County Wildlife Gun Club near North Platte.

The Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture in Curtis hosted more than 200 contestants for three days of field competitions in skeet, double skeet, trap, double trap, and sporting clays.
