Hello, My name is Pat Long, Owner of Long Agronomics, Inc. My business is located near Upland, Nebraska. I employ two full time Agronomists and we usually take on 3 Interns each scouting season. If you have a background in agriculture or are interested in getting a first hand look at some of the most intensely managed and highly productive operations in the state, I would like to talk with you about an internship with us.
As an intern, you will benefit from hands on experience with some of the latest technology available in crop production and precision agriculture. You and your supervising agronomist will work together one on one and scout fields as a team. You would assist your supervisor in collecting data from contracted fields so that we can help our clients make economically and environmentally sound decisions. Duties include plant population counts, weed, insect and disease scouting, irrigation scheduling, tissue sampling and general crop observations. All the in field data is entered into our scouting software on iPads. Weekly crop reports are generated and emailed or printed for each individual field.
Long Agronomics has been in the industry for over 25 years and we have a great relationship with all representatives in the seed, chemical and fertilizer industries. An internship with us looks great on your resume and creates a positive image of your work ethic and field experience. We are constantly expanding our business and a permanent position could be available for the right individual.
