As a grain intern, you will experience a well-rounded summer that shows all facets of the cooperative grain division. You will learn the ins and outs of grain elevator operations and grain marketing.
Responsibilities:
• Assist Grain Operations Manager to ensure that ensure that the highest level of service is provided to patrons.
• Perform grain grading and train to help provide coverage for the scale house.
• Load and unload products from trucks.
• Learn to operate automatic scale / dump systems and monitor all loadout functions.
• Assist with repairs and preventative maintenance for all grain equipment including legs, conveyors, and storage facilities.
• Participate in grain quality management by regular cleaning of storage bins/silos.
• Job shadow in Grain Originator department.
• A willingness to spend time learning about the cooperative system and each of the business units of FVC.
• Flexibility to work outside of regular office hours if necessary or when possible.
• Provide excellent customer service and assist customers as needed.
• Work in a manner that is compliant with state, local, and FVC Safety policies.
Qualifications:
• Ability to collaborate with a team, as well as work on projects solo.
• Give and receive feedback, exhibit effective social and interpersonal communication skills.
• Manage time and effectively prioritize and implement projects and general work tasks.
• Flexible and adaptable to changing business surroundings.
• Must have a valid and unrestricted driver’s license.
• Interested in a career in agriculture or pursuing an associate or bachelor’s degree in an agricultural related major or
program.
