Internship position
Wichita Riding Academy is looking for summer interns. Each year we hire interns, to assist in the training barn and to assist with the Summer Camp program. Interns are provided housing, utilities, salary & commissions for the extra income they are responsible for bringing into the business. They are also given invaluable experience in the horse industry. Salary and commissions are nego. depending on experience.
Training barn interns must be willing to travel to shows if needed and work 6 days a week. Responsibilities: grooming, clipping, assist with feeding, some stall cleaning, tacking, rigging, long lining-riding-jogging if the trainer request. Any and all duties associated with the care and well being of training horses.
Summer camp we are looking for an outgoing fun person who will speak up Loves kids and horses, someone who enjoys sharing their passion for horses with others. The work week is 5 ½ to 6 days a week depending on our work load. Assist in the care of lessons horses, see that barn rules are followed; riders are safe, having fun and learning. There are opportunities to ride.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:
- Must be age 18 or older
- High school graduate, some college
- Enjoy interacting and visiting with the public
- Personable, outgoing, enthusiastic, positive attitude
- Reliable, responsible, flexible
- Strong attention to detail and good organizational skills
- Working knowledge of horses and a desire to learn more
- A go-getter in terms of coming up with projects and seeing them through to completion
- Able to think outside of the box, to come up with creative ideas to promote horses!
- Capable of learning new material rapidly; willing to spend the time and expend the effort necessary to study material
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Able to accept supervision
- Intermediate computer skills
CPR/First Aid Certification or obtain upon employment

Wichita Riding Academy has been in business for over 35 years, has 5 full-time Trainer/instructor, and maintains 60+ horses year round. We focus on the Morgan horse, train all breeds, show National & local levels, teach saddle seat, driving, western, hunt seat, jumping, and basic horsemanship.
