We are looking for an intern to work on a commercial cattle ranch this summer. The work experience gained would consist of working with the cow herd, sorting and moving cattle to summer pastures, synchronizing and A.I.ing our replacement heifers, cutting and raking hay, stacking bales, checking water for cattle, fencing and monitoring pastures for a rotational grazing program.
Some knowledge of cattle and horses, along with operation of machinery would be helpful.
We are 12 miles from a town with a population of 5000, which has ost amenities. We are about an hours drive from the Black Hills of South Dakota, which has a lot of interesting sites to visit. Rapid City, South Dakota, with a population of about 75000, is about 2 hours away.
Wages would depend on experience. Housing can be provided.
