Agricultural Laboratory Assistant, Summer Internship
Applicant must be energetic, have a good work ethic, and be a team player. Position has
possibility of becoming full-time.
Position Qualifications:
1. Enrolled in college classes.
2. Interest in Chemistry, Biology Animal Science, Animal feeds, Agronomy, Farm or, Ranch
Management, or a closely related field.
3. A farm background is desirable, as is laboratory experience.
4. Hand and eye coordination, multi-tasking, and organizational skills.
5. Personal computer experience, including Windows and excel.
Position Description: Laboratory Technician
1. Directed by lab manager or lab supervisor to perform assigned analytical procedure.
2. Will learn to operate lab equipment as directed by the lab manager, e.g. pH and
conductivity meters, analytical balances, carbon/nitrogen analyzer.
3. Responsible for the proper use, storage, and disposal of chemicals, Safety Data Sheets
and all safety precautions
4. Will perform identification, preparation, and analysis of agricultural sample, ie. grinding,
weighing.
5. Detailed documentation and recording keeping for quality assurance and quality control.
Salary and Benefits:
1. Salary –$15.00 to $17.00/hr, based on education and experience.
2. 37- 40 hours/wk, possible overtime @ time and a half.
