Job Description 

  • We are a busy two doctor practice in the heart of Papillion, Nebraska. This is a rapidly growing area and our business matches the energy of our surrounding. We are a looking for a Licensed Veterinary Technician that is interested in brisk paced environment with dedicated colleagues. Clinic Hours are 8am-6pm. Weekends are rotating depending on animal boarding requirements.
  • The Veterinary Technician assists in multiple procedures providing care for animals including physical examinations, dental procedures, surgeries, immunizations, euthanasia as well as customer education and inventory maintenance. Technicians may also see their own appointments for procedures such as suture removal, nail trim, anal gland treatment, vaccine administration when a doctor exam is not required, lab work, surgery admission and discharge. The Veterinary Technician operates under the supervision of the Owner.

    We are looking for someone who is self-motivated, honest, reliable, respectful, positive minded team player who possesses good communication (both written and verbal) skills and is a people person who is willing to learn and work with all staff and clients in a busy practice.

    Duties include:
    Assisting with exams and surgeries, patient care and monitoring, running and maintaining in-house diagnostic and radiology equipment, nails trims, along with basic grooming and small animal care. 
    Patient Care: Perform triage, initial assessments, and nursing care for diverse cases.
    Medical Support: Assist in surgeries, monitor anesthesia, perform dental prophylaxis, blood draws, vaccinations, I.V. catheter placement.
    Diagnostics: Collect and process lab samples (blood, urine, cytology), operate digital radiography and laser therapy.
    Pharmacy & Treatment: Calculate and administer medications as directed by veterinarians.
    Client Education: Act as a bridge between the veterinarian and the pet parent, explaining treatment plans and follow-up care.



Qualifications or Skills Required
Licensure: Valid Veterinary Technician certification (LVT) or ability to obtain one within a year.
· Must feel and express a genuine liking for animals and their owners and for working in the animal care field.
· Works independently on assigned tasks.
· Understands logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
· Exhibits strong problem solving and an organized approach.
· Ability to remain calm in the face of various types of stressful situations.
· Ability to foster positive work environment for colleagues and customers.
· Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Must have telephone and computer skills, i.e. email, clinic computer program, Microsoft Word and Excel.
· Must be a team player willing to learn new techniques and treatments, offer creative ideas, and accept change.
· Knowledge of proper methods of animal restraint for various sizes and temperaments


Salary and Benefits
Pay: $18-$22 per hour; based on experience
CE reimbursement
7 days Paid Time Off
Day Shifts with occasional weekend hours on rotation with other staff members 
30-40 Hours per Week
