Job Description/Duties

Maintenance/Construction Technician

Under minimal supervision, complete duties as assigned.

  • Perform highly diversified duties to install and maintain production machines, equipment, and the facility.
  • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of equipment and facilities
  • Perform scheduled maintenance and repairs of equipment and facilities.
  • Utilize broad skills in construction for various building processes including carpentry, demolition, interior and exterior painting, waterproofing, and roofing
  • Complete  construction, erection, repair and modification of structural facilities
  • Perform simple machinist duties and responsibilities.
  • Perform skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair items.
  • Order, request, and requisition parts and materials needed to complete tasks
  • Insure spare parts are on hand for emergency repairs to essential equipment
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
  • Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments.
  • Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment and facilities.
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools, including construction saws, drills, compressors, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties.
  • Detect faulty operations, defective material/equipment and report those and any unusual situations to your supervisor.
  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
  • Will supervise people occasionally when they are helping to complete construction and maintenance tasks.

Required Knowledge and Skills:  Demonstrate interest and ability to work around animals and with people; to communicate effectively; to follow directions and to work independently; be skilled in all aspects of construction including carpentry, demolition, painting, roofing, electrical wiring, and plumbing; have working knowledge machinery and mechanical processes.

Physical Requirements:  The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. 

Working Conditions:    The working environment is primarily indoors with moderate temperatures.  Rooms or buildings can be noisy, odiferous, and dusty.  Powerful adult animals can cause injury, especially if handled improperly.  There is exposure to moving mechanical parts and vibration while using power tools. PPE is provided.

Salary & Benefits

$17-22+/hr DOE
