CURTIS, Neb. – Lacey Haskell will return to the livestock arena at her alma mater this weekend with her cow dogs.

The 2010 veterinary technician graduate of the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture in Curtis will be a co-presenter of a Cow Dog Clinic hosted by the NCTA Stock Dog Team.

Haskell and Laura Stimatze, both of Kansas, are sharing tips and training advice for Aggie students and clinic participants.

They will work individually and in groups with those who have registered for the clinic on Saturday and Sunday at the NCTA Livestock Teaching Center indoor arena.

Also, spectators can audit both days of the clinic in entirety for $30, said Kendra Marxen, an NCTA vet tech student and president of the NCTA Stock Dog Team.

Laura and her husband raise border collies and Angus cattle near Marksville, Kansas.

Lacey and her husband, Jake, who also is an NCTA alumnus, raise stock dogs in addition to their fulltime careers in local agribusinesses.

Lacey became interested in working cattle and other livestock while she attended NCTA.

She was the first recipient of the belt buckle presented in the collegiate division at the Nebraska State Fair, Marxsen said.

The Haskells are supporters of the college’s program and last year contributed funds for a six-unit dog kennel to house stock dogs at the campus.

Action will begin at 8 a.m. daily and spectators are invited to stop by and learn more about the stock programs at NCTA and with the regional Outback Stock Dog Association.
