Open enrollment at the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture is underway in more ways than one.

During NCTA Discovery Days on October 4 or November 14, students and their parents can learn about academic programs, housing, costs, scholarships, application criteria, and more.

Advance registration is requested to Discovery Day to plan a campus tour best suited to a potential student’s interest, and for a meal count, said Gaylene Stinman, admissions recruiter. Sign up at https://ncta.unl.edu/discovery-days.

“We welcome high school seniors and their families to attend of the two offerings of Discovery Day this fall semester,” Stinman said.  Springtime dates are March 6 and April 11, 2023.

Open Admission

Any Nebraskan who will have a high school diploma is eligible to apply for college admission at NCTA, regardless of grade point average or score on national tests.

Financial aid, enrollment and scholarships center around the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. The FAFSA window for 2023-24 opens Saturday, Oct.1. All college-bound families should prepare for the FAFSA.

Also, unique to Nebraska residents, is Nebraska Promise, a University of Nebraska financial aid program that provides full tuition coverage for in-state students with family incomes of $65,000 or less.

Additional resources for college prep can begin in middle school and includes advice on financial aid. See https://www.educationquest.org/

Part of the University of Nebraska system, the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture is a two-year institution with a statewide mission of preparing students for successful careers in agriculture, veterinary technology and related industries. NCTA is known for its affordable tuition, high job-placement rate for its graduates, and for the success of student teams in competitive activities including crops judging, ranch horse events, livestock judging, shotgun sports, stock dog trials, and intercollegiate rodeo. The college is consistently ranked as one of the best two-year schools in the nation.
