Aggie Rodeo places two in SDSU Finals
Brookings, S.D. – NCTA Aggie students Tom Percival of Oxford, Neb., and Lexus Kelsch of McLaughlin, S.D., made it to final rounds in collegiate rodeo action over the weekend at South Dakota State University.
“Everyone competed very well in the spring opener,” said Bridger Chykta, rodeo coach at the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture. “The NCTA athletes executed fundamentals properly and were aggressive in their events.”
Kelsch placed fourth in barrel racing in the long round on Friday, and was third in the short round on Saturday night, giving her third in the average.
Percival teams up with Jenna Brown of Norfolk, Neb., his roping partner who is a student at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. They placed 9th in the first round, short round and overall average.
Kelsch is now leading the standings for the Great Plains Region in barrel racing. The Aggie team’s next contest is Friday and Saturday in Lincoln, hosted by UNL at the Lancaster County Events Center.
