CURTIS, Neb. – Aggie Ranch Horse Team riders recently competed in a final contest of the fall season at the Silver Jubilee hosted by Colorado State University in Fort Collins.

The Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture team took nine students to the weekend event with six contestants and three support team members, said Joanna Hergenreder, coach and assistant professor of animal science.

Coach  Hergenreder’s commentary follows:

“Madisyn Cutler of Wallace and Leftys Sanchita moved up in division to compete in the Collegiate Limited Non Pro.  She was reserve champion in ranch trail class and fourth in remaining classes, a wonderful improvement from the last show.

“Damian Wellman of Prairie View, Kansas, and Lil Bay also moved up in division to compete in the Collegiate Intermediate. He had a very good weekend winning the intermediate cow horse class and finishing third in the Collegiate Intermediate All-Around.

“Rebekah Miller of Basehor, Kansas, and her horse Bullet competed for the second time in the Collegiate Novice division and won the ranch trail class. She also placed sixth in the cow horse class and ninth in reining with the largest division, nearly 20 competitors.

“Nicole Ackland of Martell and her gelding Strait Impulse competed in the Collegiate Novice and placed third in the ranch trail class out of nearly 20 riders.

“Lennae Eisenmenger of Humphrey and her horse Snippys Opinion competed in the Collegiate Novice and had one of the most pivotal rides in her collegiate career thus far.  She conquered loping and accomplished her goal of correctly completing patterns and maintaining position on the cow.  I am very proud of her choice to push herself and maintain grace and composure in the face of immense pressure.

“Carlee Stutz of LaPorte, Colorado, also competed in the Collegiate Novice and in her very first collegiate ranch horse show. Carlee and her mare had a wonderful start while showing great improvement from practice. We are very excited to see where this duo goes next.

“We also had Huntra Christensen, Brooklyn Becker and Kate Shaw travel on foot, and worked in support. I greatly appreciated their help.”

Next, the Aggie team hosts the Sherman Tegtmeier Horsemanship and Reining Clinic on Nov. 10-11.
