An open house with campus tours for prospective college students is Tuesday, March 1 in Curtis at the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture.

High school juniors and seniors are encouraged to attend and gain insights into campus life, academics, student clubs, a variety of competitive, travel teams, and meet student Aggie Ambassadors who lead the tours.

“Bring along parents or school friends for this college visit,” said Gaylene Stinman, admissions recruiter. “We have a small campus which provides great opportunities for interaction with instructors and other students."

The morning session includes small group tours inside residence halls and campus facilities.

A noon lunch at the Student Union allows guests to visit interest tables for clubs such as rodeo, shotgun sports, livestock judging, stock dogs, and ranch horse team.

In the afternoon, students will participate in interactive sessions at animal science, agronomy, ag business, ag mechanics, and veterinary technology.

Parents will learn about financial aid and filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), which is due by April 1. Andrew Hunzeker of Education Quest leads the session.

Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. at the Nebraska Agriculture Industry Education Center on campus.

“Graduates and their families often share stories about how NCTA made a big difference in their life,” Stinman said. “We like to say, Discover NCTA: Where your passion becomes a career.”

Pre-registration is requested by Thursday (Feb. 24) to assemble student packets and set up times for academic advising, plus ensure a meal count. See https://ncta.unl.edu/discovery-days to register.  A second Spring Discovery Day will be Monday, April 11.
