NORTH PLATTE, Neb. – Top aim and skills by athletes at the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture captured top team honors for the NCTA Aggies at the 5-State Prairie Circuit Classic.

The Aggies shot clay targets in trap shooting, skeet and 5-stand to win the 1st Place Team in the junior college division.

Angela Crouse of Haigler led the Aggie women and Shawn Barger of Wahoo had top score for the Aggie men of the 10-member team, said Coach Alan Taylor.

“Overall, the team performed admirably,” Taylor said of the season opener for the full Aggie team. “They showed the few first-meet jitters but all-in-all stayed focused and did well. “

The Aggie freshmen had their first outing at Hayes, Kansas last month.

Ten teams from four-year and two-year colleges competed in last weekend’s match held Saturday and Sunday at the Lincoln County Wildlife Gun Club near Lake Maloney south of North Platte.

This next weekend the Aggies travel to Brainard for a sporting clay match hosted by Concordia College of Seward.

NCTA also travels to intercollegiate matches at the Heartland Shooting Park in Grand Island on Oct. 13-14 and Nov. 3-4.

Sportsmen and women can join in for local opportunities at Curtis with a “Pheasant Season Tune-up” on Oct. 20 and a “Bacon Shoot” where prizes include bacon on Nov. 17.
