Animal science, rodeo student is Aggie of Month

CURTIS, Neb.  – Cash Talamantez of Lisco, Nebraska, is an Aggie of the Month at the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture.      

He was named Aggie of the Month for December, 2017, said NCTA Dean Ron Rosati.

Talamantez was selected by NCTA faculty, staff and peers in various leadership positions at the two-year agriculture college.

The 2015 graduate of Bridgeport High School plans a career in a western Nebraska agriculture industry after his graduation in May.

Talamantez is an animal science (livestock management) major completing his third year of studies at NCTA. 

His work experience includes an internship last summer with Lone Creek Cattle Company and his future employment will be at Flatwater Veterinary Clinic in Bridgeport.

As a calf roper and team roper with the NCTA Aggie Rodeo Team, Talamantez also has served in leadership positions with the team including 2017-2018 president and is rodeo livestock manager.

He also leads the NCTA Collegiate Cattlemen, the campus student affiliate of the Nebraska Cattlemen.

“From my observations of Cash, he contributes to NCTA in many ways,” said the nomination submitted by Mary Rittenhouse, chair of the Agribusiness Management Systems division. “He is an Animal Science major, but he assists when and where something needs accomplishing. He helped with the Curtis Fall Festival and volunteered to be a student contact for the community.

“People do not know how much Cash goes above and beyond because he is one of our many ‘behind the scenes’ students we have here at NCTA,” Rittenhouse added.

“While I have had Cash in my classes, this nomination is for his general willingness to help and facilitate what needs to get done,” she said. “He is a problem solver and displays the NCTA spirit.”

The NCTA Aggie of the Month receives a certificate from NCTA Dean Ron Rosati.
