CURTIS, Neb. - A local college student is doubling her efforts for the Oakview Childcare Center in Curtis.

Maddie Stone, who attends the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture, is hosting a bake sale from 9:30-11 a.m. Friday at the Curtis Mall.

“This is a small town, and I am also working at the daycare to share community service hours for my Human Relations class at NCTA,” says Stone, “so I just thought I would do a fundraiser for them, too.”

A variety of baked goods will be available, at a table in the hallway near the Post Office.

The Human Relations class, taught by Professor Eric Reed, includes interpersonal skills of communications, writing, organization and event planning.

Part of the University of Nebraska system, the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture is a two-year institution with a statewide mission of preparing students for successful careers in agriculture, veterinary technology and related industries. NCTA is known for its affordable tuition, high job-placement rate for its graduates, and for the success of student teams in competitive activities including crops judging, ranch horse events, livestock judging, shotgun sports, stock dog trials, and intercollegiate rodeo. The college is consistently ranked as one of the best two-year schools in the nation.
