March 12, 2020

Dear NCTA Community,

As the spread of COVID-19 continues rapidly, we are taking several additional steps to help protect the NCTA community and our broader community.

NCTA has cancelled classes, tomorrow, March 13, as well as from March 16-20. The NCTA campus, including housing and dining services, will remain open from March 13 to the end of Spring Break (March 23-29).

Students who are enrolled and engaged in internships should continue to report to work as agreed upon with their internship provider.

The second and third NCTA dean interviews will take place as planned (on March 16 and March 19). We recognize that some members of our NCTA community may not be able to be present at these interviews. Opportunities to connect with candidates virtually will be implemented.

When students return from Spring Break, on March 30, classes that can be taught remotely, will be. Labs and other experiential learning opportunities will take place in person on the NCTA campus.

NCTA administration, faculty and staff are working to identify those classes that can be completed remotely, and those which require hands-on teaching and learning. Any classes completed on campus will be held in accordance with CDC guidelines that promote the health and well-being of students, faculty and staff.  All students will be notified by email prior to March 30 of which classes will be taught remotely and which will continue to be taught on the NCTA campus.

Please know that we will work tirelessly to ensure that this switch to remote learning does not disadvantage any student.

The impact of this pandemic has been challenging on our campus, where learning is hands-on and difficult to accomplish remotely. We are, and will be, working through unprecedented changes in how to educate our students.

Kelly Bruns, NCTA Interim Dean                                           Michael J. Boehm, NU Vice President and IANR Vice Chancellor
