Curtis, Neb. – Two college students known for their positive dispositions and organizational skills as student employees have been named “Aggies of the Month” by the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture in Curtis.

Jayde Hessler of Gibbon and Madisson Fincher of Hastings are recognized as recipients of the campus honor for March, 2016, announced NCTA Dean Ron Rosati.

Hessler graduated from Gibbon High School in 2015. She is an NCTA freshmen studying animal science, and works part time in NCTA’s offices for Student Services which includes recruiting, admissions and advising.

“I cannot think of a time that Jayde has said ‘no’ when asked to try and assist with a new task,” said one of her supervisors, Tina Smith, NCTA’s admissions and recruiting coordinator.

“Jayde is always willing to jump in and help organize events and finalize last-minute details,” Smith wrote in her nomination. Hessler was on the Dean’s Honor Roll for Fall semester, 2015.

Equally lauded for her pleasant demeanor and strong work ethic is Madisson Fincher, a first-year veterinary technology student who wants to work in a Nebraska veterinary clinic as a licensed veterinary technician. She graduated from Hastings High School in 2014, headed to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln one semester and transferred to NCTA in January, 2015.

Fincher started work with the Dean’s Office last year, and has assisted Dottie Evans, NCTA campus reaccreditation coordinator and human relations instructor, for three semesters on a variety of office, communications and editing tasks.  She will continue with summer classes and working in the Dean’s Office.

Over the past two years, NCTA has prepared for its reaffirmation of national accreditation by the Higher Learning Commission. The HLC Accreditation Review Team conducted its site visit in Curtis March 28-30.

Both students were tour guides/ambassadors for the HLC team in the thorough assessment of the two-year college’s performance and programs.

The two students manage rigorous academic and campus activities along with their part-time student work duties.

“It’s a pleasure to work with Madisson,” said Evans, who also is a psychology instructor at NCTA. “She is eager to help with any task, big or small, and always generates top quality work.”

The sentiment was echoed by Catherine Hauptman, executive assistant in Dean Rosati’s office. “Madisson is very efficient, helpful, has a positive attitude, and is always great to work with!”

Aggie of the Month honorees are recognized by faculty and staff for their contributions to academic and student life at the agricultural college, said Dean Rosati.

“Jayde and Madisson exemplify the character of committed, dedicated students here at NCTA,” Rosati noted. “We appreciate their upbeat leadership in our student body.”
