Education and human services are hallmarks for the newest staff member in college admissions at NCTA.

Gaylene Stinman of Maywood joined the Student Services team at the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture in Curtis as enrollment associate.

“I am looking forward to assisting students with beginning a new adventure, giving their parents peace of mind with the choice of NCTA,” Stinman said.

Stinman brings with her over 11 years of experience in early childhood development with Educational Service Unit #15 of Trenton, and three years in Medicaid programs for the League of Human Dignity, and Center for Independent Living.

“Gaylene will become the face of NCTA admissions, assisting prospective students with their college applications,” said Jennifer McConville, NCTA associate dean.

“We are pleased to have Gaylene join our Student Services team,” McConville said. “She has been reaching out to about 300 students in the past six weeks.”

The Aggie campus is familiar turf for the Maywood native, whose father, Carl Yonkers, worked at NCTA for over 25 years caring for the campus grounds.

“I worked here three years during high school and college in the summer mowing lawns, pulling hoses, painting and cleaning,” Stinman notes, and on occasion during holiday breaks, would “babysit” the campus power plant on a night shift.

Stinman is a graduate from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in human development, family rehabilitation, and gerontology.  She also has an associate degree in early childhood development.

“I have five children and 10 grandchildren who now all live within the boundaries of Nebraska.”

She is a Master Communication Coach, has served as a past member of the Governor’s Early Childhood Interagency Coalition, and also was a member of an early childhood coalition for the Nebraska Health and Human Services, Department of Education.
