The NCTA Student Senate has named Custodial Supervisor Becky Currie as the Faculty/Staff Member of the Month for December. She was presented a certificate from Student Senate representative Taylor Hendrix.

What is your role here at NCTA?

  • I supervise 6 fulltime employees and 5 student workers on campus at NCTA.

How many years have you worked here?

  • I started working at NCTA in the fall of 1998! So about 22 years!

What is your favorite thing about your position?

  • I suppose my favorite part about working on campus is that I get to see my daughter every now and again throughout my days here.

Your greatest memory from your employment?

  • Chrissy Barnhart, the administrative lab/support associate at the Vet Tech building who also attended college at NCTA, is my daughter! And I am so very proud of her!
  • It’s hard to pin-point my greatest memory while working here, but if I had to mention one or two I guess it would be way back when the Livestock Teaching Center was new and NCTA hosted a music concert out in the arena. We set up bleachers and lights. It was really quite exciting at the time!
  • Not that I am fond of shoveling snow, but the wintertime scenery can be very beautiful on campus. The way the wind and snow blows up around the evergreen trees at the Vet Tech building are memories I soon will not forget!

An interesting fact about you?

  • I have 2 children, Chrissy who lives in Curtis with her husband Chase, and my son Brian who lives in North Platte and works at the North Platte Post Office.
  • I grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

What is a piece of advice for the students?

  • My advice to the students here at NCTA is to make the most out of every minute because our time here on this planet is so very precious!
