Hometown

Gothenburg, Nebraska – My family farms 20 miles north of Gothenburg (in Custer County)

Where did you graduate from high school, and why did you select NCTA for your college experience?

Graduated from Gothenburg High School in May 2019.  I chose NCTA because it is close to home, and I like the small campus part, and I’m able to come home if they need my help at the farm.

What is your major, and your career plans after college?

Agriculture Equipment with emphasis on welding and irrigation technology.  After graduating in a year (December 2021), I plan to go back to my family farm and work with my dad, my uncle, and my cousin. The farm has about 400 head of Angus cattle and 1,500 acres, primarily of corn and soybeans.

What organizations, clubs, and teams are you involved with at NCTA?

I am not in clubs this semester so that I can go home and farm. In high school, I was active in FFA for four years, went to state FFA twice in meats judging, and I got my State Degree.

What did you want to be when you were 10 years old?

I’ve always been around farming so I wanted to be a farmer.

What is your proudest moment? Either in life or at NCTA.

Getting my American FFA Degree

Do you have a favorite quote or piece of life advice that you live by?

My grandpa, Dean Peterson, always told me: “If you work hard it will pay off in the long run, into the future.”   I worked with him a lot over the years in our family operation before he passed away in 2018.
