NORTH PLATTE, Neb. – Collegiate teams will test clay target skills in the NCTA 2018 Clay Target Invitational at two North Platte area ranges over the weekend.

The Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture Shotgun Sports Team will host three other Prairie Circuit region teams on Saturday and Sunday.

“The NCTA Aggies will have eight students competing in sporting clay, skeet doubles and 5-stand sporting clays,” said Coach Alan Taylor.

Midland University of Fremont, Hastings College of Hastings, and Fort Hays State University of Hays, Kansas will travel to the NCTA Invitational.

The NCTA Aggies team won first-place among two-year colleges at the Prairie States Circuit contest in September.  (The team photo is in the attached PDF).

“We invite the public out to watch the teams and see the skills of our collegians,” Taylor said of the NCTA trap team which started in 2014, with backing of the college and City of Curtis.

Mixed squads from the four colleges will compete from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday at the Lincoln County Wildlife Gun Club near Lake Maloney south of North Platte.

The 100-target sporting clay will be at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Saturday at LCWGC and Camp Maranatha near Maxwell.

Schedule of Events:

Saturday-8:30 am; team representative meeting @ LCWGC

Saturday- 9 am and 1 pm; 100 Sporting clay @ LCWGC and Maranatha                 

                  5-stand, on the fly @ LCWGC                                

Sunday-   100 Double Skeet, 9 am @ LCWGC

                  5-stand, on the fly @ LCWGC

Volunteers from the NCTA Ranch Horse Team and NCTA Shotgun Sports Club will help run the trials.
