NORTH PLATTE, Neb. – College shotgun sports athletes from six states competed last weekend at the Prairie Circuit Conference Classic at the Lincoln County Wildlife Gun Club near North Platte.

The Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture in Curtis hosted more than 200 contestants for three days of field competitions in skeet, double skeet, trap, double trap, and sporting clays.

NCTA Aggie Emily Miller of Norton, Kansas, took triple honors in the women’s competition as Prairie Circuit Conference High Overall Female and High Overall Freshwoman. She scored 350 points in the five events.

Miller also led in women’s individual trap competition shooting 99 of 100.

“The competition went really good this weekend for everyone,” said Miller, a veterinary technician major at NCTA. “My highlight at any competition is just being around my team and making memories.”

Her Aggie teammate Kaden Bryant of Firth, Nebraska, ranked 8th in the Men’s Top Ten.

“We had a very good time at our shoot this weekend, and got some very good scores,” Bryant said.

The meet drew 2-year and 4-year colleges from Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Wyoming.

Winning teams were:

4-Year:  1. Fort Hays State University, Hays Kansas; 2. Concordia University Nebraska, Seward; 3. Midland University, Fremont

2-Year:  1. Connors State College, Warner, Oklahoma; 2. Northwest Kansas Technical College, Goodland.

The Aggies fielded two squads:

Aggie 1 team was comprised of:  Kaden Bryant, Emily Miller, Gavin Tremblay of Hoxie, Kansas, and Abbey Paul of North Platte.

Aggie 2 team members were:  Maddy Carr, North Platte; Nathaly Dragoo, Lincoln; Claudia Stevens, Fordyce; and Kamren Sitzman, McCook.

Coach Alan Taylor was meet coordinator. This weekend the Aggies will travel to Oak Sporting Clays range near Brainard, Nebraska, for the Concordia University Sporting Clays meet.
