CURTIS, Neb. – A final livestock stock dog trial for the season will be Saturday and Sunday at the indoor arena of the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture.

Stock dogs owned and trained by NCTA students will be competing in a collegiate class on April 6-7, said Judy Bowmaster-Cole, faculty advisor for the NCTA Stock Dog Team.

Other divisions are open to any competitors. Action begins both days at 8 a.m. at the Livestock Teaching Center.

“The public is invited to come and watch,” Bowmaster-Cole said. “This will be a great opportunity to see how much the students have learned with their dogs in safe and efficient handling of livestock.”

The NCTA team receives support from area dog and livestock owners in the Outback Stock Dog Association, she added.

“The college students are very fortunate to have amazing support from our industry partners, from having the opportunity to go out to practice at the local farm of Kelly Popp, to contributions of livestock brought into the NCTA campus for these trials, we are very appreciative,” Bowmaster-Cole added.

There is no admission charge for spectators.
