CURTIS, Neb. – Students in Animal Science and Agriculture Education at the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture are hosting a year-end dinner and awards night on April 26.

Friends and families of four “traveling” teams of Aggie Rodeo, Aggie Shotgun Sports, NCTA Livestock Judging and the NCTA Ranch Horse Team will meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Curtis Community Center.

Students are from animal science, equine management, agricultural education and academic enrichment teams.

Team recognitions, top academic students, special awards plus silent and live auctions will top the activities, said Doug Smith, chair of the Animal Science and Agriculture Education division.

As is tradition, Aggie team members sell tickets for the Steak and Shake event. Proceeds from ticket sales, the auctions, and individual donations, help fund travel and team expenses for the academic enrichment teams throughout the year.

“We always have a lot of fun recognizing the outstanding efforts from our students, and giving a huge appreciation to the many sponsors who make our travel program such a vital part of NCTA,” Smith said.

Team coaches include Alan Taylor, shotgun sports; Taylor Rossenbach, rodeo; Joanna Hergenreder, ranch horse; and Dr. Doug Smith, livestock judging.

The dinner and program are open to the public.  Tickets are sold in advance for $20 per person by contacting a team member, or calling Jan Price at the NCTA departmental office at 308-367-5293.

Earlier in the day, at the NCTA Education Center on campus, the NCTA Belt Buckle Ceremony will award a commemorative belt buckle to graduating team members, and to faculty, staff or alumni who have purchased a buckle in 2018.

The 2018 Belt Buckle Ceremony at 4 p.m. is also open to the public.
