CURTIS, Neb. – Agricultural production practices in Nigeria will be discussed by a North Platte researcher Tuesday at a public forum in Curtis.

Tony Adesemoye, assistant professor of plant pathology and crop disease management specialist, is the speaker for a 7 p.m. program at the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture.

Dr. Adesemoye is a researcher and educator at the University of Nebraska West Central Research and Extension Center in North Platte.

His program focuses on agriculture in his native Nigeria, and will provide Aggie students and the audience with insights to differences in culture and farming techniques in Nigeria and Nebraska.

Adesemoye hails from southwestern Nigeria, received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Nigeria, and earned a doctorate in plant pathology from Auburn University in Alabama. He joined the University of Nebraska-Lincoln faculty in 2014. He and his wife and three children reside in North Platte.

The NCTA Diversity Program is hosted by the Agronomy and Ag Mechanics Division at NCTA, said Brad Ramsdale, division chair.  He is encouraging all students to attend, and also invites the public.

Additionally, a second program about Nigeria will be Oct. 30 by the Rev. Tunde Oladimeji, PhD, the pastor of the Curtis United Methodist Church. He will discuss Culture in Nigeria.
